Commenting: To DisQus or Not DisQus

I have lain awake nights worrying over whether to use a third-party commenting program or continue using the one Blogger provides.

But the one provided by Blogger, quite frankly, stinks.  More than anything, it bothers me to not be able to directly reply to your comments.  It's so rude... I'm from New York (State, not City), so I'm comfortable with a certain amount of rudeness, but not quite that much.

I've also had several people tell me they have been unable to leave comments, and that it was very frustrating for them to try to login and leave a comment, but be unable to do so.  Frustrated readers are not happy readers.

The moderation and organization of the comments are fantastic through DisQus.  I love that commenters can get an email notification when I reply.  I love that I can see all the comments from my fellow bloggers and my comments to them all in one place.

It should now be very simple to leave comments using this new-to-me totally awesome program.  I have left it open so that you can login using several methods- Gmail, Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo, and OpenID, which allows for anonymous comments.

And I can now reply!  Lovin' it!  I hope you do, as well.  Leave me a comment and let me know!

  1. Yay! You'll have to tell me how to do this. I tried to reply to the comment you left for me and after 20 minutes, I gave up. :-/

  3. Hmmm... nice spelling error in the program. Not sure why it wanted to do that. Which comment were you trying to reply to?
If you frequent blogs, I found it easiest to simply create an account with Disqus so I could see all my comments- also, when I leave a comment, then people can click on my profile and see my blog.
I guess I'm still on the fence with my change...

  4. Yay I love Diqus!! As you know, I also have this commenting system and I don't have one complaint. I like that I can reply right in my email and that my response is put on my blog. I had only about a couple posts when I knew that I did not like Blogger's comment form.
